The Municipality of Halton Region is the first Canadian municipality to receive the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Directors Award. This award recognizes an outstanding commitment to high drinking water quality and treatment specifically for the Burlington, Burloak and Oakville Water Treatment Plants.
Halton Region also is a key partner in the watershed-based drinking water source protection program, where they represent several municipalities at the local decision-making, multi-stakeholder Halton-Hamilton Source Protection Committee. Halton Region implements source protection plan policies for the protection of Lake Ontario and groundwater sources of municipal drinking water.
Congratulations to the hard working team at Halton Region for being the very first to receive the AWWA Directors Award in Canada!
